Our Mission
At 5th Ward Re-Entry Consultants LLC., our mission is to provide personalized therapeutic, employment, and educational consulting services to individuals released from incarceration into society. We believe every individual has unique strengths and challenges, and we work closely with our clients to help them achieve their full potential.
Our Team
Our team of experienced re-entry consultants has a diverse background in working with incarcerated individuals compiled over several years. We are dedicated to working with underserved individuals who want a fresh start and are hungry for a new beginning. We provide you with the tools necessary to be as successful as you desire to be. Here at 5th Ward Re-Entry Consultants are committed to providing the highest level of service to our clients.
Our Services
Our non-profit offers various services to help our clients achieve their goals, including Academic Counseling, Resume Writing, and G.E.D. Prep/Testing Prep, Career Coaching, Assistance in Obtaining Birth certificates and Social Security Cards; finding and Securing Gainful Employment and Job Training; obtaining T.W.I.C.; Accessing Counseling/Therapy Services, Transportation, and more. Whether you are newly released or have been out for some time, we can help.
Reentry is the process of reintegrating into the community after incarceration, and it's not a one-size-fits-all process. The success of reentry depends on the individual's needs and ability to take responsibility for their actions. Statistically according to Texas2036, there were 132,955 inmates in Texas prison facilities in April. Of the roughly 40,000 Texans released from state prisons every year, nearly half are rearrested within three years, and between 15-20% return to prison.
- Prison vs. state jail 46.5% of prison inmates are rearrested within three years, compared to 60.1% of state jail inmates.
- State jail felonies 63% of people released from state jails for felonies are rearrested within three years. This category includes non-violent offenses like certain drug offenses and property theft.
Some key elements of successful reentry include:
- Individualized approach: Addressing the individual's criminogenic needs, or factors that increase their likelihood of recidivating
- Employment: Helping ex-prisoners find and keep jobs
- Housing: Identifying transitional housing options
- Mentoring: Providing support and guidance
